Vitamin D deficiency is common in young adults and other age groups. To treat vitamin D deficiency, doctors usually recommend taking Sunny D softgel capsules. The active ingredient in Sunny D capsules is Cholecalciferol.
Cholecalciferol which is also known as Vitamin D3 is formed in the skin under UV rays. It is metabolized in two hydroxylation steps. The first step occurs in the liver and the second step in the kidney tissues which completely converts it into an active metabolite known as 1,25-dihydroxy-cholecalciferol.
This active metabolite is involved in the regulation of calcium and phosphate balance along with calcitonin and parathyroid hormone. Moreover, it also promotes renal calcium absorption and increases the mobilization of calcium and phosphorus from bone to plasma.

- Hypoparathyroidism
