Buscopan Tablet contains Hyoscine which belongs to the class of medicines known as antispasmodic drugs.
Buscopan Tablet Uses
Abdominal pain can happen to anyone at any time. There might be several reasons causing abdominal or stomach pain. Therefore, to treat stomach, abdominal, or urinary tract spasms, doctors usually prescribe Buscopan tablets.
Buscopan is used to treat stomach cramps, abdominal pain, or urinary tract spasms. It also treats stomach cramps associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It also helps in relieving period pain and bladder cramps.
It has Hysocine and Paracetamol as active ingredients. Paracetamol has analgesic properties which provide relief from pain due to muscle spasms. On the other hand, Hysocine is an antispasmodic drug that works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the intestines and stomach.

Medicinal Forms
Dosage and Administration
- Doctors recommend taking 2 tablets four times a day for adults and children above 12 years. For regular use, the dose is 1 tablet 3 to 5 times a day.
- The maximum dosage of Buscopan tablet is 6 tablets per day.
- However, for children of age 6-11 years, doctors may prescribe taking 1 tablet 3 times a day.
- You can take the tablet or liquid form with or without a meal. But if you face any stomach-related effects, then consider taking it after food.
- Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet; instead, swallow it whole along with some water.
- If you miss a dose of Buscopan Tablet, then take the dose as early as possible. But if it is almost the time of the next dose, then skip the previous one and take the next one. And follow the regular dosing schedule.
- Follow the dosing instructions as advised by your doctor.

Its signs and symptoms are pale skin, itching, labored breathing, hives, a weak and rapid pulse, runny nose, nausea, excessive salivation, swollen tongue and lips, dizziness, tingling feet, mouth, hands, or scalp, vomiting, sneezing, etc.

- Driving or Operating Machinery
Buscopan tablets can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired coordination; therefore, you should avoid operating machinery or driving if you’re taking buscopan tablets.
- Children and Elderly Usage
The risk of potential side effects is higher in children and the elderly; therefore, it is better to consult a doctor before giving them a buscopan tablet.

Drug Interactions

Overdose of Buscopan Tablet
Some of the symptoms of an overdose of Buscopan Tablet are:
