Mebendazole belongs to the class of medicines known as anthelmintics. Mebendazole works by inhibiting the worms utilizing glucose (sugar). Without using sugar, the cells of the worms lose their energy supply and die. Mebendazole does not kill the worm eggs. That is the reason you need to take another dose 2 weeks later to prevent reinfection of worms.
