Medicinal Forms
Dosage and Administration
- Doctors recommend taking three 0.25mg tablets a day for adults.
- It is recommended to take the tablet 1-2 hours before sleeping because it causes sedation and dizziness.
- The maximum dosage of the alp tablet is 4mg per day.
- You can take the medicine with or without a meal.
- Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet; instead, swallow it whole along with some water.
- If you miss a dose of Alp Tablet, then take the dose as early as possible. But if it is almost the time of the next dose, then skip the previous one and take the next one. And follow the regular dosing schedule.
- Follow the dosing instructions as advised by your doctor.

Mothers who are pregnant or breastfeeding their babies should consult a doctor before taking this medicine. It can harm your baby’s health. So, it is advised to consult a healthcare provider before taking any drugs.
The liver aids in the metabolism and excretion of drugs. Therefore, in case of any liver-associated disease, drugs can build up in the body. So, before taking Alp or any other drug, always consider taking it to your doctor first.
If you’ve compromised liver, then the alp tablet may cause hepatic encephalopathy.
Alprazolam usually causes drowsiness, dizziness, and sedation. Hence, do not operate any vehicles or machinery when you’ve taken Alp. Driving while you are on any sedative drug may cause accidents.
If you’re allergic to Alp or any other drug like Alp, then do not take it. It can lead to a life-threatening condition called anaphylactic shock.
Anaphylactic shock is a rare but very severe allergic reaction and can lead to death if not treated at the right time. Its signs and symptoms are pale skin, itching, labored breathing, hives, a weak and rapid pulse, runny nose, nausea, excessive salivation, swollen tongue and lips, dizziness, tingling feet, mouth, hands, or scalp, vomiting, sneezing, etc.
It is better to inform your doctor about any allergies you may have.
Do not take the Alp tablet if you’ve any neuromuscular disease like myasthenia gravis. It can worsen the situation.
If you’ve sleep apnea, then do not use Alp. When you take the Alp tablet, it can relax your body and mind which also relaxes your throat. These relaxed throat muscles can worsen sleep apnea by blocking the respiratory tract.
Moreover, if you’ve respiratory problems or impairment, then taking Alp can worsen the condition.
Alp can increase the pressure inside the eye which can worsen the condition known as narrow-angle glaucoma. Therefore, if you’ve glaucoma, then do not take Alprazolam. It can cause vision-threatening conditions.
Drug Interactions
When you take more than two drugs together, they can cause a reaction in the body. Sometimes the reaction is not obvious. But sometimes, it can cause adverse reactions. Therefore, it is better to consult your doctor before taking any other medicines along with Alp.
It may interact with the following drugs:

- Opioids
- Cimetidine
- Grapefruit Juice

Overdose of Alp
In case of overdose, the harmful effects can be lessened by using flumazenil, a benzodiazepine antagonist. It is used to reverse the overdosage effects of ALP tablets and treat life-threatening symptoms.

- Confusion
- Coma

- Loss of Consciousness
Storage Conditions
