Dosage and Administration
- Doctors recommend taking 10 to 20 ml of Caricef syrup 100mg/30 ml in a day. This 10-20ml dosage can be taken in divided doses by adults.
- For children (10-17) or adolescents, the recommended dosage is 10ml per day.
- Moreover, for children (5-9 years), the recommended dosage is 5ml per day.
- However, for children, doctors may prescribe an oral solution or suspension based on the weight and age of the children.
- For children aged 6 months to 12 years (body weight not more than 45 kg), the doctors recommend taking 8mg/kg/day in single or divided doses every 12 hours.
- Take the tablet or liquid form with a meal. If taken empty stomach, then it may cause stomach-related issues or gastric ulcers.
- Take the syrup after measuring it with a measuring spoon, cup, or dropper.
- Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet; instead, swallow it whole along with some water.
- If you miss a dose of Caricef Syrup, then take the dose as early as possible. But if it is almost the time of the next dose, then skip the previous one and take the next one. And follow the regular dosing schedule.
- Follow the dosing instructions as advised by your doctor.

- Allergic to Caricef Syrup
If you’re allergic to Caricef Syrup or any other drug like Caricef Syrup, then do not take it. It can lead to a life-threatening condition called anaphylactic shock.
Anaphylactic shock is a rare but very severe allergic reaction and can lead to death if not treated at the right time. Its signs and symptoms are pale skin, itching, labored breathing, hives, a weak and rapid pulse, runny nose, nausea, excessive salivation, swollen tongue and lips, dizziness, tingling feet, mouth, hands, or scalp, vomiting, sneezing, etc.
It is better to inform your doctor about any allergies you may have.
Caricef Syrup should be taken if the bacteria are sensitive to it. If not, then it can cause antibiotic resistance. Therefore, the next time you take Caricef Syrup, it will become difficult to treat the infections.
If you have a history or any medical condition (renal impairment) related to seizures, you shouldn’t take Caricef Syrup because it can provoke seizures.
- Anticoagulants/ Bleeding Disorders
If you have any bleeding disorder or you’re taking any anticoagulants for thinning of the blood, then take cefixime on the advice of the doctor only.
If you have gastric ulcers or acidity issues, you should take Cefixime with great caution. As Cefixime affects the gastrointestinal tract, it can lead to ulceration in the stomach lining. The doctor or pharmacist may prescribe a gastroprotective agent with it.
Drug Interactions
