Mycitracin Cream contains Neomycin, Polymyxin B, Bacitracin, and Lignocaine which belong to the class of medicines known as aminoglycosides (antibiotics), bactericidal antibiotics, antibiotics, and local anesthetics and antiarrhythmic drugs, respectively.
Mycitracin Cream Uses
Injuries, cuts, and wounds can happen to anyone and they are more prone to bacterial infections if left untreated. Therefore, to prevent and treat bacterial infections of the skin, Mycitracin cream is usually prescribed.
Mycitracin cream has Neomycin, Polymyxin B, Bacitracin, and Lignocaine. These are antibiotics, bactericidal, local anesthetics, and antiarrhythmic drugs. They work by suppressing the growth of the bacteria on the skin.
By using this cream, only bacterial infections can be prevented or treated. Any other type of skin infection caused by viruses or fungi cannot be prevented or treated by Mycitracin cream.
Hence, do not use Mycitracin cream in case of infections other than bacterial ones. Improper or unnecessary use of antibiotics can lessen their effectiveness.

Medicinal Forms
Dosage and Administration
- Doctors recommend using a small amount of cream 2-3 times a day on the affected area.
- Before applying the cream, clean and pat dry the affected area of the skin.
- Cleanse and wash your hands before applying the cream.
- Then, take a small amount of the cream and apply a thin layer of the cream on the affected area 2-3 times a day.
- Gently rub it and wash your hands after applying the ointment.
- Do not use this cream for longer periods.
- The cream is only for external use (topical application). Do not ingest or swallow the cream.
- Do not use the ointment in large quantities.
- If you miss a dose of Mycitracin Cream, then take the dose as early as possible. But if it is almost the time of the next dose, then skip the previous one and take the next one. And follow the regular dosing schedule.
- Follow the dosing instructions as advised by your doctor.

There are no serious side effects after taking Mycitracin Cream. But some of the commonly occurring effects are as follows:
