Nilstat Drops contain Nystatin which belongs to the class of antifungal drugs known as polyenes.
Nilstat Drops Uses
Oral fungal infections can occur due to multiple reasons. But to treat the symptoms of mouth fungal infections nilstat drops are used.
It works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing fungi in the mouth cavity. It kills Candida albicans, a fungi that causes oral infections, by breaking down its cell wall.
The drops work only in the oral/mouth cavity and on the intestines. It is ineffective to cure any other infection in the body because it is absorbed in the bloodstream in very low quantities.

Medicinal Forms
Dosage and Administration
- Doctors recommend taking 4-6ml four times a day for adults and children of age 5 years or above.
- However, for older infants, doctors may prescribe taking 2ml four times a day.
- Moreover, the dosage may vary depending on the therapeutic response, the patient’s medical history, and the present situation.
- For the usage, take half of the dose on the side of the mouth, gargle it, and swish it around the mouth. After that, you can spit or swallow it as prescribed by the doctor.
- Repeat the same procedure on the other side of the mouth.
- After using this medicine, wait for 5-10 mins before eating.
- If you miss a dose of Nilstat Drops, then take the dose as early as possible. But if it is almost the time of the next dose, then skip the previous one and take the next one. And follow the regular dosing schedule.
- Follow the dosing instructions as advised by your doctor.
