Scabion Lotion contains Crotamiton which belongs to the class of drugs known as scabicides and antipruritics.
Scabion Lotion Uses
Scabies is a parasitic skin infestation which is caused by tiny mites. They burrow into the skin and lay eggs which causes rash and severe itching. It is contagious means it spreads via skin-to-skin contact.
To treat and relieve itching from scabies, doctors usually prescribe Scabion Lotion. It is a blend of Crotamiton and Sulphur. It works by killing the parasites residing in the skin. The lotion should be used topically on the skin at the site of the scabies infestation. Scabion Lotion is only for external use.

Medicinal Forms
Dosage and Administration
- Wash your hands thoroughly before applying the cream.
- Clean the affected area.
- Take a small amount of the lotion and apply a thin layer of lotion on the affected area.
- Rub it gently and wash your hands after applying the lotion.
- Re-apply the lotion/cream as prescribed by the doctor.
- Avoid using more or less lotion than the recommended amount of lotion/cream.
- If you have any side effects or overdose effects, then talk to your doctor immediately.
- If you miss a dose of Scabion Lotion, then take the dose as early as possible. But if it is almost the time of the next dose, then skip the previous one and take the next one. And follow the regular dosing schedule.
- Follow the dosing instructions as advised by your doctor.
Scabion Lotion Side Effects
There are no serious side effects after taking Scabion Lotion. But some of the commonly occurring effects are as follows:

- Allergic to Scabion Lotion
If you’re allergic to Scabion Lotion or any other drug like Scabion Lotion, then do not take it. It can lead to a life-threatening condition called anaphylactic shock.
Anaphylactic shock is a rare but very severe allergic reaction and can lead to death if not treated at the right time. Its signs and symptoms are pale skin, itching, labored breathing, hives, a weak and rapid pulse, runny nose, nausea, excessive salivation, swollen tongue and lips, dizziness, tingling feet, mouth, hands, or scalp, vomiting, sneezing, etc.
It is better to inform your doctor about any allergies you may have.
If you have broken or secondarily infected skin, then you should not use Scabion lotion or cream on the affected area.
Drug Interactions
When you take more than two drugs together, they can cause a reaction in the body. Sometimes the reaction is not obvious. But sometimes, it can cause adverse reactions. Therefore, it is better to consult your doctor before taking any other medicines along with Scabion Lotion.
- There are no known drug interactions of Scabion lotion/ cream with any other drug.

Overdose of Scabion Lotion
There are no known overdose symptoms of Scabion lotion. However, if the lotion or cream is ingested, then the following symptoms may arise:
- Irritation or burning feeling in the mouth or throat
- Abdominal or Stomach Pain
- Nausea
- Vomiting
In case of an overdose, it is advised to talk to your doctor immediately.

- Store in a cool, dry place, and avoid refrigerating it
- Store it at room temperature (20–25°C)
- Keep it away from heat, direct sunlight, and moisture
- Keep it away from children and pets
- Do not use the medicine once it has passed its expiration date
