Ibuprofen belongs to the class known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is an NSAID and works on the chemical pathways of the body for pain. It lessens the body’s ability to make prostaglandins (natural chemicals that trigger inflammation, pain, and fever). If the prostaglandin levels in the body go down, the pain and inflammation are also lessened and the fever goes down.
