Motilium Tablet Formula
Motilium Tablet contains domperidone which is an antiemetic (anti-sickness) that belongs to the class of antibiotics known as dopamine antagonists.
Motilium Tablet Uses
Nausea and vomiting can happen to anyone at any time. There are numerous reasons why nausea and vomiting can occur. In this case, Motilium tablet can aid in relieving nausea and its symptoms.
Motilium is mainly used to reduce the symptoms of nausea and prevent vomiting.
Domperidone is a prokinetic drug and antiemetic drug. It workds by blocking the action of the chemical messenger (in the brain) which causes nausea and vomiting. Moreover, it also increases the contractions and movements of the stomach and intestines. This allows the food to pass more easily through the stomach.

Dosage and Administration
- For adults, doctors recommend taking one tablet three times a day. The maximum dosage shouldn’t exceed 30gm per day.
- However, for children, use the dosage as prescribed by the doctor. Moreover, it is preferred to give children motilium syrup.
- You can take the tablet or liquid form with or without a meal. But if you face any stomach-related effects, then consider it taking after food.
- Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet; instead, swallow it whole along with some water.
- Do not use it for more than one week without the recommendation of the doctor.
- If you miss a dose of Motilium Tablet, then take the dose as early as possible. But if it is almost the time of the next dose, then skip the previous one and take the next one. And follow the regular dosing schedule.
- Follow the dosing instructions as advised by your doctor.

There are no serious side effects after taking Motilium Tablet. But some of the commonly occurring effects are as follows:

Prolonged usage of this medicine is prohibited. The prolonged use of Motilium can cause irregular heartbeat and severe cardiac side effects. Therefore, do not use this drug for more than 1 week until your doctor has prescribed it.
It is not recommended to drink alcohol while you’re taking Motilium.

Overdose of Motilium Tablet
Some of the symptoms of an overdose of Motilium Tablet are:

- Drowsiness
- Agitation
- Confusion
- Uncontrolled Movements (Irregular Eye Movements)
- Abnormal Posture Like a Twisted Neck
In case of an overdose, it is advised to talk to your doctor immediately.
